"A UNIQUE SELF-CLEANING FILTER FOR WASTE WATER!"

How does it work?

The Baleen filter utilizes the fundamental benefits of gravity to its advantage to separate solids from water. The Baleen Filter is based on a 'double-act' of high pressure, low volume sprays, one of which dislodges material caught by the filter media, while the other sweeps it away. As water flows through the filter, particles sized larger than the filter media initially suspended in the water are left behind, but before they are allowed to accumulate the 'double-act' effects their removal from the filter media. There is no significant pressure exerted on the solids when clearing the filter media.

This is where the Baleen Filter is positioned in the Separation Process.

The Baleen Filter ranges from 25 micron to 1mm

Why use a Baleen Filter!!!

  • New or unexplored recycle opportunities
  • The Baleen Filter does not require chemical dosing to separate solids as fine as 25 micron
  • Reduced damage to the environment and improved compliance with environmental regulations
  • Removes 100% of SS from the effluent stream with a particle size greater than the screen aperture
  • Removes BOD from the effluent stream that is directly associated with screened solids
  • Low infrastructure costs to set up and high pressure influent supply pumps are not required.
  • The filter media is continuously self-cleaning without unplanned 'downtime' for regular maintenance
  • Recovery of waste materials or value-added by-products for easy disposal or sale.
  • Captures suspended solids from Piggery WW streams in a spadeable or dewaterable consistency

Technical Attributes

  • Continuous
  • Will enable intermittent operation at peak constant flow rate over a 24 hour period

Peak utility requirements for the filter are:

  • mains or recycled water (subject to analysis) to    approximately 20 lpm(depending on influent characteristics)
  •  compressed air to approximately 5 cfm @ 6 bar
  •  power consumption to approximately 2.2kWhr/unit   at 10 Amp peak supply

Sample Results on Pig Effluent
Total Suspended Solids:    1.9%
Total Flow Rate:                    6.67 l/secs (24 m/hr)
TSS Reduction:                    52%
TVS Reduction:                    62%
Filter Micron:                        140um

The key advantage of the Baleen Filter lies in its low capital cost benefits compared to competitive offerings in terms of land/space savings, low operating costs and simplicity in terms of maintenance requirements.
